What Hotjar is
Hotjar is a behavioural analytics platform that surfaces the "why" behind user actions through heatmaps, session recordings, and on-site surveys — giving product, UX, and marketing teams a qualitative layer to complement quantitative analytics data.
How we integrate Hotjar with Shopify
Hotjar connects to Shopify through a lightweight tracking script loaded in the theme's layout, typically via Shopify's Script Tag API or through Google Tag Manager if a tag management layer is already in place. Ecom Majesty configures heatmap and recording scope against the key conversion paths — PDPs, collection pages, and checkout — while applying appropriate masking rules to exclude personally identifiable information and satisfy GDPR consent requirements. Findings from Hotjar feed directly into Ecom Majesty's CRO cycle, where session data is used to prioritise test hypotheses.
What the work involves
- Hotjar script loaded via the Script Tag API, or through GTM where a tag layer already exists.
- Heatmap and recording scope set against key conversion paths — PDPs, collections, checkout.
- Masking rules applied to exclude PII and satisfy GDPR consent.
- Findings fed into EM's CRO cycle to prioritise test hypotheses.
Can Ecom Majesty deliver it?
