What New Relic is

New Relic is a full-stack observability platform that combines application performance monitoring (APM), infrastructure monitoring, distributed tracing, browser performance tracking, and alerting in a single interface. It is particularly useful on complex headless or custom-app Shopify builds where performance regressions need to be caught before they affect conversion.

How we integrate New Relic with Shopify

New Relic does not integrate with Shopify through the App Store; it is instrumented at the application layer. For headless Shopify frontends or custom Shopify apps, Ecom Majesty installs the New Relic browser agent and/or Node.js APM agent into the relevant codebase, configures dashboards for key transaction paths (storefront page loads, checkout API calls, Shopify webhook processing), and sets up alerts for error rates and latency thresholds. For standard Shopify themes where server-side APM is not applicable, New Relic's browser agent can still surface real-user Core Web Vitals and JavaScript error tracking.

What the work involves

  • New Relic browser and/or Node APM agents installed into headless frontends or custom Shopify apps.
  • Dashboards built for key paths — storefront page loads, checkout API calls, webhook processing.
  • Alerts set on error rates and latency thresholds.
  • For standard themes, the browser agent surfacing real-user Core Web Vitals and JavaScript error tracking.
